Women's Evening Bible Study

Childcare and deaf interpretation provided. Cost of the study guide is $15.

When we hear the name Gideon, most of us think about his 300 soldiers or a fleece spread beneath the evening sky. But Gideon's story is so much bigger than that. This is a story about God and His people - His love for them, as well as His strength operating in spite of, even through, their weakness. This 7-session study will encourage you to recognize your weakness as the key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. Instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, learn to see them as the gifts given specifically and strategically by God. If you've ever felt insufficient, ill-equipped, incompetent, or outnumbered, this study is for you.

New Worship Opportunity Coming September 6

We are excited to announce that First Christian is adding a worship opportunity for families on Thursdays starting September 6! Worship will begin at 6:00 p.m. and run for an hour. This will be an identical service to Sunday's contemporary service. Childcare will be provided from birth to three years old. There are many people who simply can't attend Sunday morning services. Societal norms have changed. The lines of what used to be a typical weekend, have blurred. Work schedules, children's events and a transient society have pulled many away from the privilege and responsibility of regular worship. If you have friends, family, or acquaintances who would benefit from this worship opportunity, please start letting them know about this now. We believe that this time slot will provide a much needed service in our community!

We pray before meals. We pray before bed. We go through the motions of folding our hands and bowing our heads. But how do we break out of our prayer comfort zones and make prayer more meaningful? Do our prayers really make a difference? Why does God desire our prayers? Learn the answers to these questions and much more about prayer during a prayer study on Sunday, July 22 in ABF 4 at 9:15 a.m.

Congregational Meetings

At our congregational meeting on May 20th, the church leadership shared all of the exciting things that are happening in our church, but especially pointed out the growth that we are seeing in our children's area. At this meeting we discussed possible solutions to accommodate more families, and shared how we felt the only logical fix is to add an addition on to our current facility. On Sunday, June 24 or Monday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, we will be holding identical congregational meetings to share with you the final plans, and costs for this project. Childcare and snacks will be provided at this meeting. We value your input and hope that you can make it a priority to attend one of these two meetings.

Improve Your Finances presentation

Did you know...78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck? 66% of Americans struggle to pay for a $1,000 emergency? 7 out of 10 couples do not prepare or use a budget?

Does any of this apply to you? If so, you are not alone, but you can do something about it. Do you want to beat debt, save wisely, and give generously? Do you want to learn how to handle money God's way and take control of your future?

We invite you to attend on of the church's "Improving Your Finances" presentations on either Sunday, June 10, June 17, or June 24 at 9:15 a.m. in ABF 4. This topic is very important to God, and to our church. No matter what your financial situation, we want to give hope and encouragement to everyone, from the financially secure to the financially distressed. We want everyone to become financially healthy.

Is it "PASTA-ble"?

Lake Springfield Christian Assembly (LSCA) is a Christian Church camp that the FCC Mission team supports and they need our help!  In preparation for the summer camp schedule, LSCA has asked FCC to provide spaghetti pasta for their campers; 30 pounds to be precise, by May 27th!  Would you consider partnering with them to meet this need?  You may drop off the boxed pasta in the Outreach Center in the foyer on Sunday or the office during the week.  Please make sure that you identify the pasta with “LSCA” to prevent confusion with the Jacksonville Area Food Bank.  Thank you for making this “pasta-bility” a reality!
